I played two rounds with a buddy at a local course. He said he was going to score more rounds this year and use the detailed scoring option in UDisc. We are both looking for consistency this year and having this detailed information could help. I am also a number/stats person, so reviewing them is enjoyable.

It took a few holes to get the routine down, but once I did, it was easy to enter the information. The few times I tried keeping detailed scoring, I was a little too rigid in trying to be too exact. Once I removed that “close enough is good enough”, the process was quick. Plus it gives you a quick review of the hole before you move to the next.

• Birdies %: Percentage of birdies.
  • You want a lot of birdies, assuming the par makes sense, but it doesn’t tell the entire story. There needs to be a par % and bogeys% as well.
• Putting C1X %: Percentage of putts you made between 11-33 feet from the basket.
  • You want a high C1X %, but that only tells part of the story. If you are parking a lot of your shots, those putts you make in the “parked circle” are excluded from this stat.
• Putting C2X %: Percentage of putts you made between 33-66 feet from the basket.
  • A high percentage is great, but if your percentage is low, it may mean you are driving the disc well and not needing to putt from Circle 2.
• Scramble %: The number of times you made par when a drive went off the fairway or out of bounds.
  • You want a high scramble percentage, but you really don’t want a lot of scramble opportunities.
• Penalties: If you go out of bounds, this will be indicated here.
  • This won’t show up on most holes since there isn’t a lot of normal out of bounds on the courses I play.
• Driving %: Percentage of the time your drives land in the fairway.
  • This can be a bit subjective, but it will only hurt me if I fudge this too much.
• CIR C2 %: Percentage of times you reached Circle 2 [10-20 meters from the basket] with two throws left to make par.
  • The higher the %, the more likely you have a chance at a long putt for birdie.
• CIR C1%: Percentage of times you reached Circle 1 [0-10 matters from the basket] with two throws left to make par. This also affects the Circle 2 in Regulation stat.
  • The higher the %, the more likely you have a chance at a regular putt for birdie.
• Parked %: Percentage of time you “Parked” the hole landing in a circle that is 11 feet from the basket.
  • These putts have a high percentage of going in for most players, so a birdie is “almost” guaranteed.

Now this is the second time I have typed this information… Now that I am settling on one bag for the year, I should start scoring most of my rounds since I should have an ideal disc for each hole.
