It almost felt like spring with temps in the mid-40s… warm enough to wear shorts. I continued to work on my x-step in addition to trying out some discs for certain holes on NorthStar and Wreckreator. I played a scored round at each course after a short warm-up on Little Black Bear.
Little Black Bear
At 117 feet, hole 1 is a short hole but probably about the average hole length on this course.
It has a very open fairway which is great to start your warm up on.
When your first throw of the day lands squarely in the cage after hitting the chains dead on from the right side… well, it’s a great start.
NorthStar
At 281 feet, hole 4 isn’t that long. Besides the skinny tree in the early part of the fairway, it has a very open fairway. This is the first time I have birdied it during a scored round on my 67th attempt.
Houston… we have a problem! I wanted to throw this disc a little fast to make it turn to the right. But it went past the basket about 50 feet… which is behind the close tree/bush/thing.
Posting a picture of parking a 171-foot hole means something… I am just not sure what it means. Oh yea… being able to throw a drive on your intended line is nice… even on a short hole.
My first round of the year on NorthStar taking detailed stats and using the new UDisc par of 55. I struggled in the middle of the round but was decent for the rest of it.
My 100% Putting in C1X was the highlight of the round and my 72% driving was solid as well.
Wreckreator
One of my better drives on hole 7 in a while. Maybe it’s the warmer temps… maybe it was my “new” form… time will tell.
My second shot with my newer K3 Berg landed close enough for a stress free par.
Hole 10’s fairway got a lot smaller with this fallen tree. You can see my yellow disc to the left of it… which was one of the better forehands I have thrown on this hole. Unfortunately, I put too much heat on my second shot, threw it a bit long, had a bad attempt at an “easy” putt, and ended up getting a bogey.

A solid drive on hole 11. At this time I was struggling with my putting, especially on holes 6, 8, 9, and 10. It was likely due to thinking about my routine and mechanics too much.
I stepped up to this and said to myself… “Just putt it” and followed up with a 45-foot putt for birdie.
A better drive than what I have been throwing on this hole for a while, even though the hole is fairly short. With the slanted lie, I decided to straddle putt and made it from about 34 feet. I have been getting more comfortable with this stance resulting in more putts being made.
A good round on Wreckreator, just two strokes off my best. The Driving % was the highlight of the round and the double-bogey being the low point.
Overall, it was an enjoyable day of throwing plastic around the woods. There were definitely high and low points during the rounds…
Highs
Getting Ace #13 on Little Black Bear hole 1, especially it being the first throw of the day.
100% Putting C1X during my round on NorthStar with eight attempts.
78% Driving during my round on Wreckreator.

My drive on Wreckreator hole 6. While the drive was solid… my timing with my x-step seemed spot on and I could tell the throw was solid as it left my hand.
Lows
My double-bogey on hole 9 on NorthStar.
My double-bogey on hole 6 on Wreckreator. This is especially bitter since I had a solid drive and asolid second shot. On my third shot, I messed up somehow and the disc went very left of my intended line and ended up in the bushes. I had a decent shot to get out of it… but my relatively easy putt for bogey was… bad.
Wow, this was like a post from the “old days”, first because it was much longer than most lately and because you showed Little Black Bear! And what a great start to your day and the blog with an Ace in a hole that once a long, long time ago in a land…was a challenge with all those darn rocks around it! Congrats on the scored birdie on your 67th try! Edison only wishes he had got something to light up that early on! Lots of great throws today and that 45′ putt was very impressive! When I first saw the fallen tree I thought you might have caused that damaged by putting too much “English” on that drive. 😉 Overall sounded like a great day with the trees and links and the warmer weather had to surely be the icing on the cake.
