There was some snow fall the previous night so I grabbed my “snow broom” and headed to Farragut to see how the courses were holding up. There was about an inch of snow and the tee pads were lightly dusted. I started to try out my bag for A.W.O.L. in addition to working on my newest version of the x-step.
For hole 3, I tested out the Saint [which I have thrown a lot] and the Thrasher [which is still very new to me]. The Thrasher went straight, but has the potential to fly to the right. This is the Saint, which will usually turn to the right. Right now… the Saint is first string for this hole.I do enjoy playing with a light dusting of snow on a course, assuming it isn’t very steep. It makes looking for discs a bit easier as well.A responsible disc golfer will clear the pads before playing on them so snow doesn’t turn into ice. This provided a bit of a workout as well. This isn’t the greatest of throws on hole 15, but I struggle driving on this hole anyway. The putt was a great straddle putt, which I have become more comfortable with in the past few months. I will choose a straddle stance when putting when the ground is uneven. There was a group of two guys behind me and they finally caught up with me on hole 13. They took over sweeping duties for the remainder of the holes. This shot looked a bit better when I took it.A nice looking moon as the sun is quickly setting to end the day.
Overall it was a nice day, but the extra effort of sweeping the pads, it may have impacted my throws a bit. I did get some promising to good throws on most of the holes, but I still have some to figure out. The weather has been fairly disc golf friendly and it’s been nice to throw with cleared tee pads, even if you have to do a little sweeping.
Just enough snow to make it look even prettier…and requiring a chimney…I mean Teepad sweep! It almost turned into a night disc golfing! That would be interesting, especially if the disc went off course!
